Well, everything went exactly as we had hoped...Mom was completely surprised! It was priceless to see her face when Cliff and I came walking into the restaurant with 2 dozen roses to surprise her for her birthday! We had our trip to Iowa planned for 3 months so it was a huge relief that the cat was finally out of the bag...no more secrets. The pictures of her when we surprised her say it all! Along with surprising Mom we were also able to spend time with family and reconnect. It was great having no agenda and just going to Iowa to spend time with everyone. One of the highlights of our trip was spending time with our precious little niece, Mariah Faith. She turned 3 in December and is just the sweetest little girl in the world. We had so much fun watching her play and listening to her tell us stories. We learned that her favorite color is absolutely pink, she loves ketchup, wants to go fishing with her daddy and wants to shoot a deer like her daddy. Also, she loves to bake cookies and decorate them with sprinkles. (She and I definitely have this in common.) :) Her three babies are: Piper, Paige and Colton. Colton wears dresses but he doesn't seem to mind. ;) She loves being a little mommy to her babies! Another thing that was fun to see is how much she is in love with her daddy, my brother Ryan. She is just smitten by him and is always talking about Ryan. Seeing how much she loves her daddy was just priceless! Needless to say, the feelings are mutual. Ryan is such an awesome dad! Mariah is daddy's little angel...she will tell you that too. ;-)
We also had the opportunity to meet my dear friend Andrea's new son, Xander. He was so precious and tiny, only 2 weeks old! It was so fun to see Andrea and her husband along with their newest addition. :)
I took A LOT of pictures as usual. Below are a good mix of pictures from our trip that we wanted to share with everyone. Enjoy!
